January 05, 2006WMF Issue to be fixed today with release of GDI patch earlyIt seems Microsoft is ready to release to patch early. Instead of next Tuesday, the patch will be available for download TODAY sometime after 2 pm. The security bulletin (MS06-001) is already published and available here. Congratulations to Microsoft for releasing the patch when it was ready. Like most people I was expecting it next Tuesday. The fact that QA gave it a thumbs up and you are pushing it out sooner is a good decision. Many security professionals were warning and hoping that the patch would be deployed before any major attack was introduced to the Net. Seems like this early release may thwart some of the PoC code in the underground that was building up to be that next major attack. Make sure you test and deploy these patches soonest.
