February 27, 2005More About MeRecently I have seen a couple of trackbacks that have people talking about me, and some of my posts. There has been some confusion on what I do for a living, some thinking I am a security consultant and some thinking I am a programmer. I am kinda both. I am a computer security software architect, and I own my own company that writes computer security software. Imagine if a CISSP mated with a secure software engineer.... the result would be the birth of me! Of course, like the regular blacksheep in any family... something had to be different. That would have to be the entrepreneur streak in me that drives everything I do. My current stuff is based on the Windows platform, since that is where a lot of 'pain' exists for my corporate clients. I do some security consulting and write specific software for our clients, but this has really been a stop gap to bootstrap the company as I build some commercial off the shelf (COTS) software to handle some specific weaknesses I have identified on the Windows platform. Does that mean I hate Unix now? Not at all. Do I think Windows sucks? Not at all. It's about the right tool for the right job... and anything can be made secure... just as anything can be made INSECURE. Having the luxury of an infosec background while at the same time being a developer, it gives me a unique perspective on things. So there you have it. I hope I cleared up the confusion. If you want to talk to me, fee free to drop me an email. Or, why not Skype me? You can search for me on Skype as "Dana Epp". Posted by SilverStr at February 27, 2005 01:21 PM | TrackBackComments
Hey, thanks for that post! I didn't request the info, nor have I ever moved beyond lurker status here (until now), but it's nice to get some context once in a while, especially about someone whose news and opinions you've read for a while. =) Posted by: LonerVamp at March 2, 2005 03:01 PM |
