PowerPC Virtual Emulator!

Wow, did I find a cool thing on Sourceforge today. There is a new PPC emulator in development called PearPC that is an architecture independent PowerPC platform emulator capable of running most PowerPC operating systems. That means that you might even be able to run Apple's OSX on a different platform like x86 under Linux or Windows. From the screenshot, they are already doing just that!

I have been looking at the possibility of porting a part of my intrusion prevention and process rights management code to OSX, but don't own a PPC system with enough power to run it. If this project continues to be as successful as it is... I might get a chance in the future.

It's not ready to handle such critical work yet, as the author even admits that there are still unimplemented instructions, mysterious bugs and missing features. There is even a warning to no use it on important data, as it WILL destroy them sooner or later!

Just a matter of time. Damn I wish I had a few extra cycles to help this project out. This would be a kewl project to work on.
