Information Warfare

Back in 1994 a new book came out called "Information Warfare: Chaos on the Electronic Superhighway." In its first edition, the US Government thought there was too much classified information in it and the Brits wanted to ban it. At the time, the ideas of an "electronic perl harbour" sewn into the book rattled many an infosec professional's cage (well, there were very few infosec pros that didn't work for some sort of government agenciy back then ;-) )

Some say the actual term "information warfare" became a part of regular infosec vocabulary with the release of this book. Its content is now old, and to most of us common knowledge, but its good to reflect on our mindsets of the past, to understand where we go in the future.

If you are interested in the book, the publishers have released the complete first edition for free download in pdf format.

Happy reading!
