Security Blog Presentation

Since most of you read my blog via RSS, using RSS feeds is probably not new to you. However today I had the distinct pleasure of presenting the powers of RSS and weblogging as it relates to information gathering techniques for the infosec professional to my peers at the CIPS Security SIG.

It was nice to see a majority of the people there open to the opportunities of RSS, and the very fact that most have stated that they are going to try it out over the next few months was a rewarding result.

I promised I would put my powerpoint presentation online so they can get some info on some good feeds to start with, as well as a few links to starter aggregators. Here is that presentation. Many thanks to Robert Scoble for providing the RSS vs HTML thread as a basis to help describe the productivity gains of RSS.

And thanks to the CIPS Security SIG for inviting me to present. I hope you enjoy the new world you have been exposed to!

P.S. If anyone has a server running moveable type that they are willing to let others host on for free, please let me know. The CIPS Security SIG is considering putting a low traffic blog up, but does not have the resources to do so. Please let me know if you can help us out.
