December 24, 2003An In-Depth look Into Linux Security in 2003Following up on the heels of my earlier post a few days ago on Windows security in 2003, HelpNet Security released an article called Reflecting On Linux Security In 2003, which talks about the state of affairs that is security on Linux in the last year. This article wasn't of the same substance as the Windows one. It seems to be more of a he-said/she-said finger pointing article about Linux vs. Windows security than about Linux as a whole. However, there are some good points to reflect on if you take time to read between the lines. Patching is just as much an issue on Linux as it is Windows. High-profile breaches (such as the Debian project and the kernel tainted code injection attempt) shows Linux, and the Linux development process, as being just as fallable as other systems. So what can you make of that? I dunno. Go read the article and make your own determination. |
