Microsoft releases network port info

This is a great find for all the firewall administrators out there!

Microsoft released a spreadsheet today which documents all the network ports utilized by the Microsoft Windows Server System products.

Check your hots-based access control policies and see if they match up!

How do you check for hotspots when they use every single port from 1 to 65535!!!!! :)

Now now, lets be fair. They actually only use something like 75 ports across 50 or 60 services/daemons. Thats actually not to bad.

What you are talking about is a single USER application that is poorly designed (ie: NetMeeting), but the same can be said on crappy daemons in different flavours of unix/linux.
