DevCon Itinerary

Well, my trip down to Seatlle was pretty uneventful. Except for some heavy rain it was a nice drive.

Scoble has been nice enough to let me crash at his place while I attend the DevCon, which is a great experience in itself. Wine and wireless, what can be better than that? He is madly typing at his laptop like he was rewriting some deity's bible... so I would gather he is webloging like mad. Guess I will do the same.

So, barring any unforseen legal issues (read: Microsoft beating me with the NDA I signed), I intend on blogging the DevCon as much as I can. Hopefully I can be vague enough and yet give some insight on some of the kewl security tid bits I can pick up. Here is a schedule of what I expect to be attending:

Tuesday:

  • New Longhorn Filter Manager
  • How to Logo a Cool New Invention
  • Improving the Device Install Experience
  • Windows Driver Performance
  • Driver Signing

Wednesday:

  • Windows CE .NET Device Driver Model and Windows CE Test Kit
  • When an Application Stops Responding: What drivers should do to help keep applications from hanging and to support recovery
  • Common Driver Security Bugs (The reason I came)

Thursday:

  • Driver Development and Testing Using Device Simulation
  • Windows Longhorn Graphics and User Experience
  • Windows Core Testing Best Practices
  • WinDbg Advanced Debugging
  • How to Make Devices Secure

Friday:

  • Static Driver Verifier: Finding Bugs in Device Drivers at Compile-Time
  • Interactive Session: Using Static Driver Verifier

All and all, it should be lots of learning, burning and churning. I look forward to the 3 security sessions, as well as the advanced debugger and testing one. I will try to let you in on the latest and greatest that I am permitted to talk without disclosing anything confidential. Guess you should have registered before it sold out. :P
