October 07, 2003Wicked MSDN issue on SecurityHoly crap! You would think the guys on the Microsoft camp are thinking about security or something. I just noticed (thanks to Scoble) that November's issue of MSDN Magazine is choked FULL of articles on security. Makes me wish I had a subscription. I think its time to drop by the campus to say hi to Scoble again so I can pick up a copy. Man it looks like a good read. If you get MSDN Magazine, you won't be disappointed. I know some of the authors of those articles, and they know their stuff! Scoble, expect a visit dude! Posted by SilverStr at October 7, 2003 09:36 PM | TrackBackComments
So does this mean I'll stop getting my MS security updates by email sometime before 2005? Seriously, talking about security is just that, talking. Actually doing something would be nice, cause the spyware, adware, OE virii, and security problems are making me want to go and live in a cave somewhere. Posted by: Arcterex at October 8, 2003 10:36 AMEducation is the first step dude. Things won't change over night. By writing articles like this more developers will learn HOW to do it, and then can take the steps to apply it. I give MS some credit here. How many companies do you know continiously teach the team new methods for secure coding practices... much less have a DIVISION to deal with it. Thats exactly what Michael Howard is doing in the Secure Windows Initiative. (You will note he is one of the authors in the magazine next month) Personally I care about my code and would like it to be secure. I like to continue to learn new techniques to apply to my work. I appreciate the fact MS is dedicating an issue of the magazine to security. I only hope there will be more in the future! Posted by: SilverStr at October 8, 2003 10:49 AM |
